  our story

        Hi! MY NAME IS FRANKIE.

Thank you for being here!
I started playing the drums at the age of 12 inspired by the first Guitar Hero: World Tour drum-kit, just like this kid here.
I loved it so much that I went to school one day and asked my teacher if I could give the drums a go in music class. Not only she agreed to let me play but she also made me the class band drummer, which meant I could play every week!

My passion developed into a proper obsession, as I would tap my fingers and feet everywhere to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest classics. Listening to music drove me to the drums, and watching drummers on Youtube inspired me to listen to more music.
I agreed with my parents I could quit soccer (I was awful at it) if I went for drum lessons. I was lucky to have very supportive parents since day one, even though they didn't really understand my passion for Metal music. They probably thought it was just a phase. Hehe!

As I started high school, my music taste and passion for music was growing bigger every day. A friend of mine (now the owner of this magic place here) introduced me to the guy who would have become my drum teacher for the six years to follow: his name is Raphael Saini.

Little I knew that this legendary Italian/Brazilian guy would transform his private lesson studio (at the time a Garage made to a rehearsal room/studio) into an epic music school with over 200+ students: This is Bateras Beat Sardegna. The best thing for me was that he was so passionate about studying and practicing drums he would continuously invite internationally re-known drummers to our hometown (Cagliari, Sardinia) to come and teach masterclasses, workshop and drumming events, so that him as well as his students could study with him. It was unreal! By the time I was 16, I had met so many incredible drummers including Jason Bowld (Bullet for My Valentine), George Kollias (Nile), James Payne (Kataklysm), and many more.
Furthermore, the community in the school was just so friendly and supportive. Growing up I would try and stay in school as much as possible on Monday nights: I felt safe, welcome, and in a friendly environment.

Hence I grew up as a normal teenager in a totally fine neighborhood with the passion of becoming the best drummer I could, and being on tour around the world.
Educating myself on topics such as music and drums helped me a lot with finding my identity as a young man, staying away from trouble, learning how to get along with people (my school and band mates), building my confidence throughout practice, trusting the process, and much more that I can tell you in the blog.

I moved to Australia in 2016 to chase my dreams and find better opportunities for myself as a musician and music educator. In 2017, I settled down in Melbourne, where I studied a Diploma of Business and a Bachelor of Music at Melbourne Polytechnic (2019-2022).

Since before completing my degree I have been working as a private drum teacher, teaching people of all levels and backgrounds.
In 2023, I organized my first few masterclasses, with the aim of recreating the same culture of the original Bateras Beat schools I grew up so fond of.

I operate as a teacher to be an example for all my students, and I strive to employ the best teachers in Melbourne so that they can learn how beautiful the Bateras Beat methodology is and share their passion for music with me.
